The Art of Connection

Networking is a skill. It is hard to do networking if you do not have enough confidence in yourself or connections. That is one way to explain the Art of Connection. Another way is how your brain neurons are connected to each other. There are billions of connections in the brain of a human being. That electricity the powered the neurons and brain cells are very interesting to study.

Making connections is hard in the business industry. That is why you need to expose yourself in the different avenues or ways available.

Having someone you know from different industries is a skill. It is not attained overnight. You have to make an effort and create your own opportunities. I do not usually market myself. But I am now. Paying for advertising is so expensive nowadays. That is why I am letting the “word of mouth” do the talking for me.

By exposing myself to the online platforms available on the internet, I am allowing myself and my skills to be discovered by someone. As I mentioned before, I had a lot of skills but it has not been discovered by anyone yet.

In an unfamiliar territory, like business and entrepreneurship, I would say I do not have enough experience to thrive. But I’d let my audience decide for themselves. I never sold a single solution before. I sold a couple of my jewelries though and that is rewarding.

About networking, the secret is to be yourself, not to be intimidated by someone in a position, by their outward appearance, by their status in life. I learned that you just need to smile and have fun when meeting new people. Talk to them about relevant matters that concerns them or concerns you and go with the flow.

I went to a conference 2 years ago; it’s a conference for medical coding professionals. I went there for the first time. My family is against it. They told me not to go but I insists because I wanted to experience it myself. I did. It was not an unfamiliar state that I go to. It’s in Baltimore City in Maryland. Maryland is where my older sister lives. It was fun.

I got to meet the supervisor or Vice President of the Company, the volunteer committee supervisor and the one in charge for the security of the computer systems. Wow! That was an experience. I am by myself. I don’t know anybody there, but I was able to enjoy myself and meet great people.
